Psalm 33:20-22

"We wait in hope for the Lord; he is our help and our shield. In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name. May your unfailing love rest upon us, O Lord, even as we put our hope in you."

5 months!

Jadon is five months old already!  The last couple weeks have been so much fun, I'm really enjoying this age.  He is such a smiley, happy little guy...I'm so blessed!  Here's some updates on him:

  • Still size 3-6 month clothes...but the onesies are getting harder to snap.  Would be really hard/wouldn't fit with cloth diapers!
  • Speaking of cloth, we have put them away for the time being.  We noticed some redness and I have smelt some ammonia and we just don't have the time right now to figure everything out.  I plan on going back, but not yet.  I'm enjoying the ease of disposibles right now, but I do miss that cute cloth butt!
  • He's eating about 5-6 oz of formula 4x a day with another 4 oz at bedtime.  It's lower than before cause he's eating about 1-2Tbls. of rice cereal 3x a day.  Jadon LOVES to eat like a big boy!  Get ready momma, this boy is going to eat you out of the house!!
  • Jadon loves to move around like crazy!!  Diaper changing is interesting...I don't use the changing table anymore cause he lifts his butt up and pushes his head to slide really far on his helmet.  Too dangerous!  I just had to order breathable bumpers cause he gets limbs stuck all the time in the crib....plus his helmet always clanks against the bars in the morning.
  • He's rolling from stomach to back and back to stomach.  He enjoys sitting up and we're working on balance.
  • Jadon just found his thumb!  He doesn't really need the pacifer that much, so hopefully this is just a teething thing...yes, I feel something under those gums!  He's had some days of fussiness cause of teething.
  • Naps are interesting.  He wakes up about 45 minutes into one and cries until he falls back to sleep for another hour.  Gone are the 2.5-3 hour naps!  I made the mistake of getting him up after the 45 minutes...not a good idea!  He's all smiley in the beginning, but it really messes him up...so I leave him and try to deal with the crying.  He takes two 1.5-2 hour naps with a catnap in the evening.
  • He gets up between 7-8am and goes to bed between 9-9:30pm.
  • For the first time he grabbed at Dave's plate the other day.
  • Still going to PT once a week.  He has a few degrees to get complete rotation yet, but the therapist thinks we may be able to go to every other week soon.  It's very hard to do stretches on him now that he's moving around so much, plus he knows what your going to do to him!
  • The helmet has been on for one month.  The side of the head has grown 1/4 inch so far, which is great!  We can definately see a difference, which helps!  It's getting harder to know what to dress him in, especially with some warm days.  He doesn't like to be too warm, especially when he's sleeping.
We got this onesie from stylinbabyhelmets.com  They make some super cute onesies and hats to make the helmets even cuter!

Fun First!

How cute is this little guy!!!  This weekend we tried cereal for the first time to see if he was ready for it.  It was also his first time in the highchair.  He is such a ham!!  He took the cereal for a while, then started pushing it out.  I'm not in a hurry to start him, I just wanted to see what he'd do with it.   It was so crazy pulling out the highchair though...when we got it we packed it away, along with all the eating utensils cause we wouldn't be using them for a LONG time!  Get used to it, right?!

One of those days!

Last Friday was one of those days...too much and overwhelming!  I was trying to get over a cold and Jadon had appts from 9am to 2pm!  He had pt, which he screamed at cause I think he's starting to not like strangers.  He smiled at the intern, then started screaming.  He sees them weekly, but it's getting harder to "trick" him into doing exercises.  After that he had his 4 month appt where he got his first shot and it went good.  Then he got his helmet that afternoon.  Now, on top of all that goodness, he got his first cold.  Or what I think could be a cold, or teething, or caused by his shot.  Add that on top of the helmet and my hubby going out of town and leaving me to deal with all of this new stuff...ahhhh...it's seemed like it's been one of those days since Friday.

Each day God has given me the strength to get through another day.  Each day has gotten a little better.  Thankful tomorrow is a new day, and praying it isn't one of those days!!

4 months!

Little guy is 4 months old!  Yikes!!!  Also, today marks one year from our BIG surprise!  Now our big surprise is smiling at us!  Here's some updates:

  • Jadon rolled over for the first time this week!  He rolled from belly to back.  So cute!
  • He started blowing with his lips partly closed to mimic us and loves to make noise.
  • He had his 4 month appt and weights 15lb 10oz and is 26.75in long.  They were so surprised at how much he grew, plus I heard over and over again about how strong he was!
  • He got his first shot and did great.  He wined for like 3 seconds and then was back to cooing!
  • Jadon got his helmet yesterday too.  I'm already ready to be done.  I know it will get better and is for his benefit, but really??  My poor baby has had too many things to deal with, now this?  This too will pass, but he'll be SO big by that time!  He's gradually adding time in wearing it.  Tomorrow night we actually have to wake him up to take it off, then put it back on an hour later.  REALLY??  The orthotist was like, well, he's probably not sleeping 8 hours in a row yet, so it won't matter.  I was like HE IS!  And he has been for the last 2 months!  By Tuesday he will be wearing it 23 hours a day...it is pretty cute though...
  • He is in size 3 diapers at night...we're trying to use up the size 2's during the day.  I'll be going back to cloth then when they are gone.  We had a little ammonia issue so I defunked them.
  • He eats about 6 oz 4 times a day.  Depending on when he takes his last bottle we sometimes wake him up between 10 and 11 to feed him 4 oz. more.
  • He takes 2-3 naps.  The first two are about 2 1/2 hours long and he sometimes skips the last nap which is normally 30 minutes.  He sleeps from about 9pm till 7-8am.
I also got my first cold since having him...man is it hard to take care of someone else when you feel like junk!  It's not like I can just curl up and relax/sleep to get better!  Oh well, I guess better me than him.  Suck it up momma!

Praise!

Today Jadon had a pt appt and it went really well!  He has started turning is head to look at things on his right side and not always turning his head to his left.  This was the second week of only going once a week, and he's been improving, yeah!!!  Praise God!  So, we are officially down to only once a week...which means he only has one appt next week...what on earth will I do!!??

I dressed him up in his cute little soccer outfit today, so cute!  Me and grandma bought him some more soccer clothes to match his helmet which should be soccer themed.  We will just have to use the helmet as an accessory to match his clothes to!

Cutie!

What a cutie!  I'm having so much fun dressing him in his cute clothes! He loves getting dressed and changing, even if he's tired!  He just giggles so hard as you put stuff on and off.  I think he's going to be like his daddy and love clothes!  I'll have two sharp looking guys that love to take their momma shopping!!  Love it!

One down...one to go.

It is amazing how it seems time can fly, but yet some days seem like they will never end!  I remember when we got the brace on Jadon we were like he will be 15 weeks old when he'll get this thing off, that's like FOREVER!  And now here he is, 15 weeks old and its been one week since he hasn't had the brace on, yet it seems like it's been such a long time since he's had to wear it!  Crazy!

Now we are on to the next "attachment".  Jadon had his orthatist appt on Monday and he strongly felt that he needs a helmet.  Kids normally wear them 4-6 months.  Since Jadon is so young they thought it would be on the shorter end, but the fact that his head is "severe" it could take a little longer.  I guess he wears it until both the orthatist and Dave and I agree on his head being good enough.  It was funny cause the orthatist was like, it's a big time commitment on coming to appts.  You start with every week, then every other week until the end.  I was like, I know no different than going to multiple appts every week, why not?! Isn't that just what everyone does when they have a baby??  That's all I know!

Jadon has really been gumming his hands and just about anything he can get in his mouth.  Wondering if teething is coming in the future.  He had a hard time falling to sleep last night, which is very unusual for him...I guess we'll wait and see!

My "little guy" is already wearing a size 3 diaper at night!!!  Holy smokes!  The size 2's just weren't holding it all in.  I'm interested to see what the doctor says at his 4 month appt.  Wondering if cereal is in his near future since he's getting so big.  It's a crazy thought that soon we'll be getting out the spoons and bowls...and the high chair!!
